Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor with WPDE-TV. She later worked as the morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter at WCBD-TV. Her articles from Charleston concerning how Charleston police acted in DUI cases with care, resulted in an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division. This investigation led to a more strict instruction for the state's authorities. Ms. O'Dell won her Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell was a reporter and anchor for a time working in Charleston as a reporter, was a co-anchor at NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV station, before transferring to Access Hollywood where she is an anchor and reporter during weekends. O'Dell anchors the main newscast at Access Hollywood. In addition she has contributed in NBC News Today and Dateline NBC. She has covered such events as The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as well as co-hosting a number of Pre-ShowArrivals shows for The Emmys and the Golden Globes. Also, she co-hosted Miss America's Pageant as and the Miss Universe Pageant.
